Earlier, parliament speaker Andrei Parubiy informed Zelensky that he no longer had the right to veto the VSK law due to the expiration of the response period.

“The President understands the complexity and importance of this law, adopted by the Verkhovna Rada, and requires a certain amount of time to study it. I think the decision will be made public soon, ”said Stefanchuk.

At the same time, he added that Zelensky’s predecessor in the chair of the head of state, Petro Poroshenko, also took extra time to study important laws before signing them, and some laws passed by the Rada had been lying without the president’s signature for more than two and a half years.

According to Art. 94 of the Constitution of Ukraine, the president signs or returns the law with his proposals within fifteen days after receiving it. If the president does not return the law for re-examination within the prescribed period, the law is considered approved by the president of Ukraine and must be signed and officially made public.

At the same time, Zelensky had earlier proposed to the parliament his bill on impeachment, but the deputies refused to consider it and decided to finalize their own law on the VSK, which had previously been approved by them in the first reading, providing for the specified procedure.

It is also worth noting that this bill was registered on the Rada website back in 2017. However, he was adopted only after Zelensky won the 2019 election.
