A press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Peskov, on July 8, while talking with reporters, announced that the Kremlin was supporting the initiative to hold a teleconference between the Ukrainian television channel NewsOne and Russia 1
NewsOne: Teleconference with Russia is necessary to restore peace
“This is an initiative of two television channels, which, from our point of view, can only be welcomed,” Peskova quoted Interfax-Ukraine as saying.
The spokesman emphasized that, despite the political and diplomatic turbulence between the two states, the communication of peoples has not been canceled, and this dialogue continues directly and indirectly.
A teleconference between Ukraine and Russia is scheduled for July 12, which will be broadcast by NewsOne and Russia 1. It is assumed that the Russians and Ukrainians will communicate with each other and discuss the most painful issues for the two peoples.
At the same time, nationalist organizations, a number of political forces, and even Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman have already categorically opposed and are demanding that President Vladimir Zelensky intervene and cancel the teleconference.
Zelensky himself invited the Russian leader Vladimir Putin to talk in Minsk in the presence of US President Donald Trump, British Prime Minister Theresa May, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron.
