Earlier, the Ukrainian television channel NewsOne canceled a teleconference scheduled for July 12 with the Russian channel Russia-1, which Zelensky, in particular, opposed. As an alternative, he invited Russian President Vladimir Putin to communicate in Minsk in the presence of US President Donald Trump, British Prime Minister Teresa May, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron.
“Firstly, you need to understand whether such a meeting has prospects, and secondly, you need to understand what kind of new format is being proposed. The fact is that the USA is not a participant in the Normandy process, and what about the Minsk agreements, under which are signed by the participants of the Normandy process, but not signed by any representatives of the USA? ”Peskov noted.
The “Norman Four”, or the “Norman format”, is a group of leaders from Germany, Russia, Ukraine and France to resolve the situation in the Donbass. At the same time Zelensky repeatedly spoke about the need to reform the Minsk format and negotiations with Putin, but only in the presence of Western representatives.
