At the end of June, the competition for the post of head of the State Customs Service was won by Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Nefedov. The Commission on the High Civil Service Corps recommended that the Cabinet of Ministers appoint him to this position.
“Today for the first time live I saw my future customs economy … Well, what can I say? In the first photo – an unfinished crossing point. Europeans gave money, half stole money, half lost. The second one is a scanner purchased last year and still not launched. On the third – this is how the exit from the scanner looks. Actually, the entry is also the same … I don’t even know what conclusion to draw from this, ”Nefedov told about his first impressions.
The European Union funded a project to modernize and build border checkpoints with Ukraine – € 29.2 million (2 billion rubles) were to be transferred for this purpose. In February 2018, it became known that the financing of the Brussels project was ending.
A source in the EU said that during the implementation of the project, Ukraine should have received about € 10 million (717 million rubles), and used € 2 million (143.4 million rubles). The total value of funds that were proposed to Ukraine but not used is about € 27 million (1.9 billion rubles).
