The famous director Oliver Stone during the premiere of the film “The Untold History of Ukraine” with the participation of Victor Medvedchuk and Vladimir Putin, said that the history of the film tells that in conjunction with Russia, Ukraine was a more powerful country than now in partnership with Europe. The broadcast of the 65th festival in Taormina was conducted by the TV channel 112 Ukraine
“This is a very intriguing question. First of all, you should ask why the sanctions were imposed. They were imposed due to Ukraine. This is what they encountered. And it all starts from this point, from Ukraine. That's what this film is about, ”said Stone, who was the producer of the picture.

He also noted the role of the chairman of the political council of the Opposition Platform – For Life, Viktor Medvedchuk, in making the film.
“There are no changes … Half of Ukrainians are protesting, and they do not agree with the policies pursued by the Ukrainian government and the myth that Ukrainians will receive a much better life from the West. We see during this time that nothing happens from 2014 to 2019, and what we tried to do with our film is to show some reasons that bring us back to the previous regime and talk about the people who are there and who are now are still there, and, in particular, about President Leonid Kuchma. And one of the key people who helped us, advised us, was also Mr. Medvedchuk, ”Stone said.
He noted that the reign of Kuchma in Ukraine was one of the most economically advanced periods in Ukraine at that time.
“Through partnership with Russia, Ukraine has become much more powerful than with the EU. This is one of the main messages and motives that you can hear and see in our film, ”Stone added.
Earlier, Ukraine.ru reported that the producer of the film also met with Russian President Vladimir Putin to ask him a question about the Ukrainian crisis.
Putin and Medvedchuk share their thoughts on the causes of the conflict and ways to resolve it.
“Oliver Stone again asks the question why there is still no peace in Ukraine,” said film director Igor Lopatenok.
