Earlier on the same day, the television channel announced a teleconference joint with Russia. After that, his initiative was sharply criticized by supporters of ex-president Petro Poroshenko and nationalists.
“Our attempt to organize a platform for discussing non-political issues by ordinary people who never questioned the territorial integrity of Ukraine, without politicians and odious propagandists, has led to the fact that over the last time a number of political parties launched a massive information attack on our television channel ", – said representatives of NewsOne.
According to them, the channel’s journalists began to receive direct threats of physical violence.
The teleconference was to take place on July 12 at 18:00. Maria Sittel and Andrey Malakhov from the Russian side and Elena Kirik with Vasily Golovanov from the Ukrainian side were invited as presenters.
According to NewsOne management, this initiative was motivated solely by the goal of restoring peace in Ukraine. At the same time, the Kremlin supported the idea of a teleconference, but Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky opposed it.
