President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky invited Russian leader Vladimir Putin to communicate in Minsk in the presence of US President Donald Trump, British Prime Minister Theresa May, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron
A few hours after the announcement of the teleconference between the Russia-1 and NewsOne channels, which will take place on July 12 at 18:00, the Ukrainian leader recorded a video message to compatriots.
“And now I want to appeal to the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin. Need to talk? It is necessary. Let's discuss whose Crimea is and who is not there in the Donbass. I’m proposing the company for conversation: I, you, US President Donald Trump, British Prime Minister Theresa May, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Emmanuel Macron. Location: I think Alexander Grigoryevich Lukashenko will gladly receive us in Minsk. We do not change or refuse any diplomatic formats. We suggest talking. After all, you need to talk, right? ”- said in Russian President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly stressed that he is open to dialogue with the Ukrainian leader. According to him, a constructive dialogue between Moscow and Kiev is possible if Zelensky fulfills campaign promises and starts talking with compatriots in the Donbass. Putin also pointed out that the Ukrainian authorities should understand that the common interests are not confrontation between the countries, but the development of pragmatic cooperation based on trust and mutual understanding.
"Need to talk? I agree. First, dear Ukrainians, with you. You are smart people and you must turn off emotions for a moment and turn on your head a little. The announced teleconference is just a cheap but dangerous PR move before the election, the goal of which is to divide us again. You and all Ukrainians are at two camps, ”Zelensky said.
According to a survey conducted by NewsOne, which was attended by over 8,000 viewers, 96% are sure that a direct dialogue between Russia and Ukraine is necessary to restore peace.
