French court admits death during sex on a business trip accident
The French court recognized as a victim of an accident at the workplace a man who, while on a business trip, died during sex, reports BFMTV. In 2013, TSO Construction Company sent its safety inspector to the Loire. On the night of February 21, he ended up in bed with a stranger and died of a heart attack.
The Primary Health Insurance Fund classified the incident as an accident at work, noting that sex is as much a part of everyday life as eating or bathing in the shower. The company did not agree with this, appealing that the death of the man did not occur during the execution of work and in the wrong hotel room, which the company reserved for the employee.
The Court of Appeal, however, ruled that since the man was on a business trip at the time of death, it does not matter under what circumstances he found his death – during the performance of professional duties or during everyday affairs. In addition, the company did not provide evidence that the employee interrupted the trip for personal reasons.
